HOME

I love making things from scratch.  I was recently baking cupcakes in my mother's kitchen, with the help of my 10-year-old niece, when she asked me, "Do you always bake everything from scratch?"  I had never really considered it before--I thought, doesn't everyone prefer homemade desserts? Isn't that normal?  I suppose that it is just the way I was raised.  Having grown up in the South, I learned to bake things from scratch--whether baking or sewing, it just seemed totally natural.  I learned a simple pride in taking care of my family and my house.

I began making draperies and pillows for my house when I was newly married.  Once I became a mom, I began smocking, crocheting, and sewing for my little one: I made daygowns, car seat covers, draperies, bumpers, booties, blanket--the works.  Noticing my creations I had designed for my own children, my friends began to ask me to make things for their children.  It was exciting to spot children at church in some of my early smocked outfits.

Things began to pick up when I went shopping one day at a local children's boutique.  The store owner asked me where I had purchased my infant car seat cover and I told her that I had hand-made the cover as well as the smocked bubble my daughter was wearing.  She asked me what I could make for her store, and then things started moving!

Today, I am creating new designs every season and have my clothing line in several stores in Texas and a couple in Tennessee.  I am having fun creating for others and I hope you enjoy these Haute Cocoa products!

I would love to hear from you so please feel free to contact me.  Thank you!
